Prince Henry starts a navigation school
Prince Henry started the first oceanic navigation school in 1408. It gave sailors knowledge on how to sail down the west of Africa. -

Bartolomeu Dias was a knight of the royal court, and superintendent of the royal warehouses. He was a master at sailing and discovered a passage around the sothern tip of africa which made trading easier. -

Christopher Columbus sailed and landed on a small island. He called this island San Salvador, and he believed he was in the Indies, or Indonesia and Malaysia. -

The Treaty of Tordesillas was intented to divide newly discovered lands outside Europe between Spain and Portugal. Portugal recieved the lands to the East and Spain recieved the ones in the West. -

Vasco Da Gama reached the port of Calicut in 1498. There, he ran into a conflict with the Indian ruler, and ended up with a heavy tax fee. -

Magellan was looking for a westward route to the Spice Islands. Eventually his group and him landed in the Phillipines. He was the first European to reach the islands. -
