President Boris Yeltsin made Vladimir Putin director of the Federal Security Service

On December 31, 1999, Yeltsin unexpectedly announced his resignation and named Putin acting president. This was very unexpected and a little suspicious. Its not coomon for this to happen and everyone was questioning.

Vladimir Putin went against U.S. President George W. Bush’s decision to abandon the 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty. This is what brought these two together.

Putin declared the military campaign over, but casualties remained high. There was still much tension going on. Putin was under pressure.

Vladimir Putin joined German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder and French President Jacques Chirac against U.S. and British plans to use force to remove Ṣaddam Ḥussein’s government in Iraq.

Putin was reelected. This is now his second term in office, and his first full term, due to the unexpected pass on that Putin recieved earlier.

Putin was forced to step down and chose Dmitry Medvedev as his succesor. Again Putin is a very supicious man through out this time period, as he remains assoicated with the government.

Pudin and Dmitry both run for president. Now people are starting to assume something is going on with Putin.
