Gold Rush
The Gold rush started when Edward Hargraves , a prospecter, claimed to have found gold near Bathurst, NSW. Eight months later gold was found in Ballarat and Bendigo, Vic. This caused large amounts of prospects to come to Australia and search for gold -
The Eureaka Stockade Rebellion
300 Brittish men fought the stockade. The stockade was only protected by less than 100 men, the rebellion was defeated. -
First Boer War 20th December 1880 - 23rd March 1881
The first Boer war was also know as The first Transvaal war of inderpendence. -
Opening of the First Parliment of the Commonwealth of Australia
Opened in Melbourne by Prince Georrge, Duke of Cornwall and York. This painting called "The Big Picture" was painted by Tom Roberts in honour of the event. -
