When Rosa Parks didn't give up her seat to a white man. they called the police and then she got arrested. This caused a lot of uproar which made people want to boycott.The NAACP made this movement to boycott all the buses.Which overall fought the segregated bus policy. -
Integration of Little Rock Central High School
Nine black students integrated into an all-white high school.There was a huge mob of over 400 white civilians.The U.S supreme court issued that racial segregation in schools was unconstitutional. The Little Rock school broad that they would go with that -
Lunch-counter sit-ins
Four African American college students sat down on lunch counters and asked for service.They were denied service and were asked to leave.It was a peaceful resistance and peaceful sit down. This led to more young people going into helping the civil rights movement. -
Bombing of 16th St.Baptist Church
The KKK bombed the 16th St.Baptist Church,which killed 4 little girls.The 4 girls were Addie Mae Collins,Denise Mc
Nair,Carole Robertson,and Cynthia Wesley. This all happened in Birmingham, Alabama.People felt grief and anger after all of this was done. -
24th Amendment
It was made to take away poll tax or any tax related to voting. This made it easier for black voters. -
"Bloody Sunday"-Selma
The Sncc protested against the voting registration for black voters. Over 600 marchers came over to protest in Selma. The State Troopers harmed over 50 people -
Voting Rights Act of 1965
President Johnson passed this law to overcome legal barriers for African American voters. It was helpful in most southern states.
