French Revolution
The French Revolution started because King Louis XVI left the country on the brink of bankruptcy. The Enlightenment was a big part of the reason that the revolution started. The enlightenment was so that people could think of new ways to control the government and new ideas. -
Tennis Court Oath
The Tennis Court Oath was for the members of the French Estates-General for the third Estate. They vowed ""not to separate, and to reassemble wherever circumstances require, until the constitution of the kingdom is established." This happened because the third estate decide to break from the Estates-General so they could have their own constitution where everyone is equal. -
Independence Day
On independence day the storing of the Bastille occurred, it was an aggressive mob coming to attack. This happened because the King and Queen were not good rulers and their country was not happy about how they were getting treated. The storming of the bastille was another reason the French Revolution started. -
March of Versailles
An angry mob of about 7,000 was marching to the King and Queen's home to bring them back to Paris as prisoners. The mob was angry because the King and Queen were starving their country, and they were unhappy about how wealthy and carless they were. The mob took them back to Paris and they would be there for 3 years as prisoners. -
Napoleonic Code
The napoleonic code is the French civil code established under Napoleon. It allowed freedom of religion, it also set up a system of Civil service where government jobs would go to the most qualified.
