Upper class people with military backgrounds were called Decemberists. This revolt was unsuccessful. They wanted a libera; program in government such as Constantine. -
Russia Industrializes
The number of factories doubled between 1863 and 1900. With help of british and french investors, work began on the Trans-Siberian Railway that began in 1891 and didn't get completed until 1916. -
Bloody Sunday
Russian workers attempted to petition Czar Nicholas ll for better working conditions, freedoms, and a representative government. The czar's troops fire on the petitioners and kill several hundred. This event demonstrated the socioeconomic problems suffered to reform. -
The March Revolution
Women textile workers in Petrogal led a citywide strike. almost 200,000 workers swarmed the streets in protest. While the March Revolution succeeded in forcing Czar out of the throne, they failed to set up a stronger government. -
The Bolshevik Revolution
Lenin and Bolshevik gained power of the Petrograd soviet and in other major Russian cities. Within days Lenin ordered that all farmland be distributed among the peasants.They also gave control of the factories to the workers. Signed a truce with Germany to stop all fighting, the treaty of Brest-Litovsk, and start peace talks
