Maine becomes a free state and Missouri becomes a slave state. Split the Lousianna Purchase along 36 30 with the North being freea and te South eing slave. This caused more of a division in the country, which helped lead to the Civil War. -

Preston Brooks canes Charles Sumner
In the middle of a speech Charles Sumner gets brutally attacked by Preston Brooks. He was hit 30+ times. Later more Southerners sent him more canes. This helped to lead the country into the Civil War by stirring up the tension betweeen the North and the South. -
Pottowanimie Creek
John Brown attacked five innocent men. He their heads with a broadsword. This lead to the Civil War because the South blamed the North for the violence. -
South Seceds
South Carolina was the first state to secede. By late February 6th, 1861, other Southern states had also seceded. This lead to the Civil War because it split the country into two. -
Davis"s Decision
Davis decided to attack the fort on April 12th, 1861 at 4:30 a.m. Two days later, on April 14th, the fort surrendered. This was the beginning of the Civil War. -
Lincoln's Decision
Lincoln chose to go with the fourth option, which was send only supplies and no troops.He did this to put pressure on the Jefferson Davis administration. This was the beginning of the Civil War. -
Fort Sumter
Construction of fort began in 1829 and was still unfinished in 1861. And stood at the enterance of the bay outside of Charleston South Caarolina. This started the Civil War.
