  • Birth

    Mike Ditka was born on Oct. 18, 1939, in Carnegie Pennsylvania. He grew up in the town of Aliquippa where in his childhood he played Football, Basketball, and Baseball. His parents were Charlotte and Mike. He grew up in a low income area of the town and his father was very hard on him. He used sports as a way to get out of Aliquippa, even though people told him he was too small or too slow. (Mike Ditka)
  • Drafted into the NFL

    Mike Ditka drafted by the Chicago Bears as the fifth overall pick in the 1961 NFL draft. He was also drafted in the first round of the AFL draft, but decided to play for the Bears.   • 1963 NFL Championship

    Mike Ditka was a tight end for the legendary 1963 Chicago Bears who defeated the New York Giants 14-10 in the 1963 NFL Championship. This was the franchise's first championship.     In 1973, Mike Ditka began his legendary coaching career as an assistant coach for the Dallas Cowboys under coaching legend Tom Landry. Mike ditka has had a coaching career almost none can compare to. Ditka has one a super bowl as a player, assistant coach, and head coach.
