  • Mughal Empire (Imperialism)

    Mughal Empire (Imperialism)
    This empire was a Muslim empire (located in India), before the British East India Company took over. By 1707 Arbar, Shah Jahan, and Aurangzeb had made the empire to what we know today as India. All three leaders contributed to this Empire, and made new ideas/inventions/buildings as well.
  • Enlightenment

    Enlightenment
    The Enlightenment took place in Europe in late 1700's to the 1800's. This age was a time that the movement of thinkers used the scientific method rather than religion to explain the world. The Enlightenment involved men of all social classes and some woman like Mary Wollstonecraft. Some other people involved were John Locke, Baron Montesquieu, and Voltaire.

    Formation of the National Assembly (French Revolution)
    The National Assembly was formed in France by the Third Estate, during the French Revolution. They wanted to pass laws and new reforms for the their people. It took from June 17 to July 9 to form this assembly.

    When the National Assembly (the Third Estate) was kicked out of their meeting place, they met in a tennis court instead. They all took an oath that they would stick together and meet until the new constitution was made for France.

    During the Reign of Terror Maximilien Robespierre ruled France. He was like a dictator, and killed anyone that he thought was going to go against him, even citizens. Max also made people go into his army. This time period went on until July 28 of 1794
  • War of Knives (Haitian Revolution)

    War of Knives (Haitian Revolution)
    Louverture at the time controled the north and west of Hispaniola, and Andre Rigual controled the south of this island. There was a disagreement on whoses idea would be put into place. The war lasted for about a year Britian helped Louverture defeat Rigual, the war ended in March of 1800.

    When Portugal refused to be apart in the Continental system, Napoleon sent over troops through Spain. While the troops were stationed there, the Spanish attaked the French. 300,000 troops were dead at the end of the war in 1814.
  • Congress of Vienna (French Revolution)

    Congress of Vienna (French Revolution)
    At the Congress of Vienna the nations of Europe came together to figure out their problems. The outcome was monarchs that Napoleon took out of power, were put back into place. All land that was taken over was given back to origional countries. Also a balence of power to make France weaker. This restored the peace back in Europe. This Cogress met in the winter of 1814 and 1815. .

    A war was between Britain and China. This war was because of China bringing opium into Britain. Britain didn't want this or liked the idea of opium being brought into their country. The Opium war ended in 1842.

    This treaty ended the Opium War. This also gave Britain Hong Kong. Also made it possible for other countires to trade with China.
  • Mattew Perry goes to Japan (Imperialism)

    Mattew Perry goes to Japan (Imperialism)
    Mattew Perry brought a letter to Japan from President Fillmore. The letter asked if the US and Japan could trade with eachother. Perry said he would come back with a large army in a year to see what Japan's responce would be.

    This period of time happened in Japan. Meiji ment enlightened rule. The era lasted from 1868 to 1912, 45 years that Emperor Mutsuhito ruled. Mutsuhito modernized to get away from western ways.

    At this conference all 14 European nations met. They decided how to split up Africa. No one was at this conference to support Africa. This conference went on until February of 1886.
  • Boxer Rebellion (Imperialism)

    Boxer Rebellion (Imperialism)
    This rebellion was against the Dowager Empress's rule and foriegner privilege. Out of the rebellion, nationalism emerges in China. It was called the Boxer Rebellion because the Boxers fought agaisnt the Empress. The rebellion ended in August of 1900.
  • Partition of India (Imperialism)

    Partition of India (Imperialism)
    After WWII Britian was giving up India, but this caused tension betwen Muslims and Hindus about how to set up there new government. They couldn't agree on anything and this lead to two new countries Pakistan and Bangladesh. This was called the Partion of India.
