    It was a 4 year war between the United States and 11 Southern states that seceded from the Union and formed the Confederate States of America.

    The Treaty was signed by Tribes in Indian Territory that abolished slavery. The loss of Territory meant dealing with white settlers and other native tribes.

    Divided reservation lands into individual plots for ownership. Made way for the white settlement and assimilation tactic.

    The Land in Indian Territory was opened for settlement. It was the first major white settlement in the territory.
