    The Return of General Santa Anna
    Santa Anna led 15,000 men to fight the U.S. known as the Battle of Buena Vista. Due to the amount of cannons, Santa Anna was defeated.
  • Battle at Chapultepec

    Battle at Chapultepec
    Hand-to-hand combat occurred during this battle after the U.S. invaded. It caused Santa Anna to surrender and thus the war was over.
  • Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo

    In February of 1848, a peace treaty was signed which was important because it gave the U.S. half of mexicos territory.

    Article 9
    Article 9 stated that Mexicans in the new areas that were gotten, that they shall be maintained and protected. They also had freedom of their liberty and property, and able to practice their own religion. This important because it cant be taken away from them according to the treaty.

    Even though the war was over, both countries still had mistrust. Due to this, Mexicans who lived in the U.S. faced difficult times.
