Magna Carta
The Magna Carta establishe the idea of limited government. This document protected against unjust government and the loss of life liberty, and property. -
Virginia House of Burgesses
The first Legislative assembly of representatives who were elected in North America. -

This document was presented by the Convention Parliament to William and Mary in order to invite them to become joint sovereigns of England. -

To rebel against the British and their taxation without representation, Colonists dressed up as Mohawk indians and dumped British tea into the Boston Harbor. -
First Continental Congress
All colonies (excluding Georgia) meet in Philadelphia. Delegates debated what to do about Great Britain. -
Lexington and Concord
First battle of the Revolutionary War, and the colonies won. -
Second Continental Congress
All thirteen colonies had delegates meet in Philadelphia. The congress played the role of a central government. -
Declaration of Independence
A document written by Thomas Jefferson explaining the reasons for independence from Great Britain -
Articles of Confederation
This was a temporary agreement between the 13 founding states that was later replaced with the Constitution. -
Peace Treaty with Great Britain
The Treaty of Paris was the document signed between the US and Great Britain to show the ending of the American Revolution. -
Shay's Rebellion
Economic troubles due to the war, lead to Daniel Shay gathering 1,200 men to rebel against federal arsenal in Springfield. -
Constitutional Convention
This convention had the intention of revising the Articles of Confederation however, delagates decided to create a new government rather than fix the old. Therefore, we have the US Constitution. -

*Two chambers to a national legislature
*National Executive chose by National Legislature
*National Judiciary appointed by Legislature. -

A seven year war fought mainly between the colonies of British America and the French.
