Chiyo and Satsu are taken from their home in the small fishong village of Kyoto. They are sent to two seperate okiyas, where geishas go to train. Chiyo meets the only geisha in her okiya, Hatsomomo, they don't get along because Hatsomomo sees potential in her (page 42) -
Chapter 4 - Chapter 11 (page 1199)
Satsu and Chiyo run into eachother and decide to try to run awy together. Chiyo falls from the roof of the okiya and breaks her arm, so she stops going tto school and becomes a maid Granny dies and Chiyo meets Mahema, Hatsmomo's biggest rival. Mahema agrees to train Chiyo to get back at Hatsmomo.(page 139) -
Chapter 12 - Chapter 20 (page 1308)
Chiyo becomes Mahema's little sister. Mehama will train her until she becomes a full geisha. her geisha name is Sayuri. They plan to take down Hatsumomo and Pumpkin, her little sister by starting a biding war on Sayuri's mizuage between Dr. Crabs and Nobu - san. (page 244) -
chapter 21 - Chapter 25 (1368 pages)
Sayuri becomes a geisha, no lomnger an apperntice. She stops seeing Nobu and accepts a General as her danna. Mother has to pay Mehama for the be they made about Sayuri. Sayuri has already made more money than she owes Mother. (page 304) -
Chapter 26 - Epilouge (1492 pages)
Sayuri has to work for a friend of the general's deurring the war, a lot of the people she knows die including the general. After the war she is adopted by mother. Nobu is interested in becoming her danna but she chooses the chairman instead. He takes her to America a few times and she decides to move to New York. (page 428)
