Purpose: This movie showed all the places Christopher Columbus explored.
Fact Check: Columbus wasn't the first person to prove the roundness of the Earth.

Connection: No one believed Christopher Columbus and I have also been in situations where no one believes me. -
Oliver Twist
Purpose: This movie showed how many orphans were treated during the industrial revolution.
Fact Check: Orphans were forced to work under very poor conditions.

Connection: I wish to solve the problem of homelessness in America and world wide, and workhouses are things that I could think of to help solve it. -
12 Years a Slave
Purpose: This movie showed me how exactly slaves were treated.
Fact Check: Solomon Northup disappeared again while promoting his autobiography, and was never seen again.

Connection: I've been in the school system for 12 years with no monetary reward. Some could call this a form of slavery. -
Lincoln
Purpose: This film showed us how much work it took to pass the 13th amendment.
Fact Check: Lincoln was the first president to ever be assassinated.

Connection: We learned a little bit about Lincoln in the Bill and Ted movie. -
Butler
Purpose:This movie showed our class how segregation was a big issue after slavery.
Fact Check: Cecil's real name is Eugene Allen and he never had a son that was with the Black Panthers. He only had one son named Charles.

Selma
Purpose: This movie showed the struggles that went on even after slavery was abolished.
Fact Check: Selma residents were working on voting rights way before MLK Jr. decided to go there.

Connection: The U.S. government tried to jeopardize MLK's marriage by saying he had an affair. These types of petulant actions take place in modern day high schools. -
