    Triple Alliance: Political/Military
    The members of the Triple Alliance were Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy. Germany and Austria-Hungary had been closely allied since 1879 when Italy sought out their support against France. Their agreement was that Germany and Austria-Hungary were to assist Italy if it were attacked by France without Italian provocation. In turn, Italy would assist Germany if Germany was attacked by France. In the event of a war between Austria-Hungary and Russia, Italy promised to remain neutral.

    The League of Nations has many members which include Soviet Union, Brazil, Italy, and Costa Rica. The purpose of the League of Nations was to prevent future aggression and war.
  • NATO: Political/Military

    NATO: Political/Military
    Ten western European countries joined with the United States and Canada to form NATO. It is a political/military Organization and its purpose is to guarantee the freedom and security of its members through political and military means. This means taking care of a range of threats including terrorism, failed states and weapons of mass destruction.
  • OPEC: Economic

    OPEC: Economic
    OPEC, or Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, was created to coordinate and unify the oil policies of its members and to ensure the stabilization of oil markets in order to secure an efficient, economic and regular supply of petroleum to consumers. The members of OPEC are Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Qatar, Libya, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Nigeria, and Angola. The picture to the left is of the first OPEC meeting.

    PLO: Cultural
    This organization didn't have any specific countries it was just a representation of the Palestinians. The purpose of the PLO, or the Palestine Liberation Organization, was to push for the formation of a Palestinian state.
