United States and Great Britain
Originally the United States was a part of the British Empire. The countries created because of the split were the United States and the United Kingdom. When the 13 colonies started to push for independence, the British Empire didn't want to fight so they could keep trading partners making the split for economic purposes. -
Ireland and Great Britain
Ireland was a part of the British Empire but they wanted their independence. Becasue of their resources, the British Empire didn't want to givr it to them. Instead, Ireland was given autonomy, or self-governing. -
Quebec and Canada
Quebec was originally part of Canada.Their split was mainly because of cultural differences like religion and language. Quebec mainly spoke French and was mainly Catholic and the rest of Canada was Protestant. Quebec was granted autonomy. -
Scotland and United Kingdom
Scotland believes that they would be better off as an independent country because of their abundant resources. Becasue of that they think that they could enter the E.U. as an independent country. The United Kingdom decides the grant Scotland autonomy because they both still need each other. -
Yugoslavia
Yugoslavia split into to the countries Montengro, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, and Bosnia-Hercegovina. Yugoslavia broke up because of undecided political power and cultural differences between the Serbs, Croats, Albanians, and the other ethnic groups in that region.
