The Gupta empire were especially known for their expertise in metal working. The Gupta made metal building structures, buildings, and weapons. -

In the Byzantine empire an accomplishment that they developed was an extension to women's property rights, and creating a set legal system for people to follow. These accomplishments helped further women's rights as well as setting up a legal system. -

The Mayan came up with many scientific and technological advancements. The Mayans tracked the movements of the stars and planets and used this information to create accurate calendars. Mayans also created temple-pyramids as well as hieroglyphics. -

Imperial China made many advancements and discoveries throughout their time. Some important things that were created include paper, gunpowder, clocks, vaccines, and paper money were all advancements made we still use today that originated in China. -

The Muslim people made many amazing discoveries and advancements for their time. They learned how create world maps, created the compass, created books on the structure of animals, created algebra and spread the concept of "zero". -

Japan developed their own type of architecture. These tower-shaped structures had with an upturned tiled roof. Each one of these building had to have an odd number of floors to each building. (3,5,7,9) -

This empire established guilds, these guilds helped regulate a specific craft or product giving many people work as well as advancing the trade business and increasing overall trade. -

Mali
Location: West Africa;
Mali became known through Mansa Musa, the first leader to devotely practice Islam as well as complete a hajj. He paid for everything in gold on his hajj and spread gold throughout the area creating inflation in Alexandria. Mansa Musa bettered Mali by bringing back scholars and architects to build mosques throughout Mali as well. -

Aztec
Location: Northern Mexico;
The Aztecs were the creators of the sunstone calendar. In addition to this the Aztecs also used and created pictographs to tell stories and used poems in song form to express themselves as well as tell stories. -

Inca
Location: South America;
The Incas created a device called quipus to send messages to one another. The Incas did not have a written language so they tied different colored string with knots in certain spots with certain meanings to remember the messages they were passing along through a relay like system. -

Songhai
Location: West Africa;
In the first few years of the Songhai civilization beginning, the Songhai leaders built and army to try to overtake Mali. They succeeded and where less strict on the belief systems of the Muslims causing many of their newfound people to rebel.
