    In 1066, the Normans settled in Normandy.which was just northeast of France. The Normans then adopted French ways and passed them onto England which started the beginning of the Medieval Period.

    In 1135, William's son Henry died. Then the debate between Henry's daughter and nephew started, nobody knew who was going to take the throne since he died. In 1154, Henry's grandson Henry took the throne as Henry II.

    King Phillip of France along with Richard (Henry's son), and Fredrick I of Germany, were leading the forces attempting to recapture Jerusalem in the Third Crusade.

    Queen Eleanor created the Code of Chivalry. King Henry's son Richard died in battle so his other son John became king. In 1215 John was forced to sign the Magma Carta.

    During this time parliament began to meet regularly. Edward I established the inclusion of commoners which became the House of Commons in the council.

    The Hundred Years' War was a struggle between France and England which started in 1337 during the reign of Edward III. During all of this, England was experiencing one of the worst epidemics known as the Black Death.

    During this time, the war was going on. Many victories such as Henry V's great victory over the French Agincourt, the siege of Orleans under the inspired leadership of the young peasant woman Joan of Arc. Then the war was over in 1453
