The reason for the crusades was to regain the holy lands. negative effects of the crusades were that many jews and muslims were killed, constantinople was ravaged, and many towns were destroyed. the positive effects of the crusades were that military technology was transferred, expanded trade, and it encouraged the church to spread christianity. -

English Common law
King HenryII utilized law in courts so he would have more power. He also established a common law so people who commited similar crimes would face similar punishments. He also set up grand juries to decide whether someone should go to court and the trail jury to decide whether or not someone was guilty. -

Europeans hated Jews because they refused to become christians, and they were mostly moneylenders who charged intrest which was considered a sin at that time. Many people blamed them when somthing went wrong. Also, Some Jews were forced to live in seperate communities, or wear special clothing showing everyone that they were jewish. -

Spanish Inquisition
Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand wanted to make everyone Christian. So they came up with the inquisition to torture people who commited heresy until they confessed, and then they would be punished, but if they didnt confess they would be considered guilty and would be executed. Also, they would force people to give up there religion and become christian and then they would go through this to make sure they were really becoming christian. -
Charlemange/ Holy roman empire
Charglemange became emperor of the Roman empire. He moved the capitol of the Roman empire to Aachen. Also he put a big emphasis on education because he thought everyone should be well educated.
