The Fuedal System
In 800 CE Charlemagne, king of the Franks, gave land to the Churchmen and wealthy family. The condition was in that in exchange for the land they would assist in running the Empire. Meanwhile the Lords and Bishops would grant privileges to knights and lesser clergy who would then allocate spare land to the peasants, in which they would have to work for, and would pay taxes in crops to the monarchy. This was the Feudal system.
