In the 1910s, lighter fabrics and simpler suits grew in popularity and the man’s daytime suit consisted of a straightforward single-breasted jacket with narrow lapels and high buttons. This was paired with straight trousers and button-down shirts. Shirts had detachable collars that were easily replaced if ruined.

This time was known as the Jazz Age. Suits were simpler and slimmer, and very much brighter. Men began tying Windsor knots with their ties, collars were now pointed spread to accommodate the style. great depression came, the fashion industry took a turn. Cutbacks in clothing production due to this time resulted in the restructuring of men’s suits in an attempt to maintain style. The 1940s are considered to be the last decade of truly "gentlemanly style and elegance". Suits were made without vests, pocket flaps, and trouser cuffs. Double-breasted jackets returned, as well as wider trousers. Colors returned, and hand-painted silk ties.

beginning of the 1950s decade, men’s attire simple. It was after the cold war so many men were in uniform and looked the same. Suits no longer sported shoulder pads and ties collars were slimmer. Over time, the 50s became a bit leisurely. Athletic attire, polo-style shirts and short shorts in pastel colors grew in popularity and every day casual wear.
