Neolithic agricultural revolution
Settlements, population increase and resource management began, thanks to the new way of thinking about agriculture and resources. Humans settles to become farmers instead of nomadic hunter-gathers, which lead to human population growth and more resources the were managed sustainably from around human settlements. Link text -
Industrial Revolution
The Industrial revolution helped in population growth and helped in most of the humans needs at that time but it did the opposite to the environment. Humans needed materials to build their machines, so they mined in search of materials to produce metals. Other machines used large amount of fuel in the form of trees and coal, which when burn released toxic gases into the atmosphere contaminating it. Due to this the urban consumer society arose. -
The passenger pigeon becomes extinct
Conservation movement grows, because the passenger pigeon was once considered one of the most abundant birds in the planet and it went extinct in just a century. Concern for tigers, rhinoceros and other species appear, because they where commonly hunted animals. With this conservation groups start to appear with the single objective, to prevent more animal extinctions.

Green Revolution
Mechanized agriculture boosted food production massively, which lead to a huge population growth of about 3 billion. Instead of normal fuel the use fossil fuel which was better suited to prevent excessive environment contamination. Modern environmental movement
Impacts to the environment became more severe, with deforestation, collapsing fish stocks, endangered species, nuclear waste, ozone layer depletion and global warming which affected all living things in the planet. Governments formed nature reserves and put environmental issues on their agenda to prevent the destruction of their environment. Businesses with environmental friendly appeared and helped by reducing the amount of toxic waste production. -
First Earth Summit-UN Conference on the human environment
Declaration of UN conference to create an action plane for the environment, for these plan funds were stablished to help protect the environment. The UN formed the UNEP UN environment programme incharged of the protection of the environment and making meetings every ten years. -
Bhopal Diasater
The Bhopal accident was the release of toxic gases to the atmosphere which caused hundreds of deaths and animal death this is known as one of the World's worst industrial disaster. It not only killed humans but also animals like cows who were affected by the toxic gases and left dead in the roads. Plants also were affected by the gases becoming contaminated killing everyone whom ate them like animals.

Chernobyl Disaster
The released of radiation made it impossible for people to live near the area were the reactor was located, animal and plant live continue to coexist around the area but under the effects of radiation. Even though humans build a dome around the reactors to reduce the amount of radiation escaping into the atmosphere it still affects the environment until now. Animals and plants now present mutations due to the high amounts of radiation found near the area of the reactor. -
Green awareness strengthens
Environmental friendly products, recycling and ecotourism became popular, due to the fact that problems like global warming which affected the environment. Words and ideas like recycling, reusing and reducing became popular because they help the environment.

Rio Earth Summit and Kyoto Protocol
Agreement to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to counter the greenhouse effect and the global warming which were threatening the environment. This agreement was established in different countries around the world and in countries where the emission of carbon dioxide was very high.
