Adventures at Ek’ Balam and more
Today we visited three cenotes and a Mayan temple called Ek’ Balam. Ek’ Balam had all type of crazy structures in it. Cenotes are basically really big aquifers, natural watering holes. The temperature of Cenote Hibiku is + or - 2 Celsius. It is 27 meters deep.
  • Lazy day in viodolid

    Lazy day in viodolid
I had a pretty bad day. It was a lazy day because we visited Ek Balam yesterday. It was burning and we walked down this street about eight times. Once I whacked my foot. Then we went to eat and I was thirsty. I got strawberry water and it was really good. It probably wouldn’t have tasted so good except that I was really thirsty. On the way back I was looking down and not in the best mood. A water meter hit my head and it knocked me back. Luckily my dad caught me and then we walked back.
  • Learning about Mayan history

Today I went to a planetarium and learned about all sorts of Mayan stuff like the Mayan month has 20 days, 18 months in a year and then five days for celebration. At the time the Mayans were really good at astrology like they were able to predict solar eclipses. Corn is a really big part of the Mayan culture and they think it is the ultimate plant because it sustains life. The ceiba tree is the symbol of life and it connects the underworld, the earth and the sky.
  • Exploring Chichen Itza

    Exploring Chichen Itza
Chichen Itza is a pretty amazing place. You think the actual pyramid is the main thing and then you will leave. But there actually is so much stuff. There is an astronomy tower and the ritual platforms and the ball court was ginormous. The Mayan were into calendars so the pyramid has four staircases, each with 91 steps. When you add the steps and the top that’s 365.
  • Coba and driving

    Coba and driving
Today we drove a lot. We started at Mayaland at Chichen Itza, did random stuff, then started driving. When we got to Valladolid we picked up our bags, drove another hour to Coba. Coba was pretty cool. The big ruin was pretty high and I was surprised it wasn’t closed off and all the other ruins were. When I climbed to the top of the pyramid I felt a little dizzy. I think it was about 130 steps to the top then we drove some more and arrived in a place near Tulum.
  • Lazy day in Tulum

    Lazy day in Tulum
Today we had a lazy day. We spent most of the time at the beach and the pool. We met some nice people that I played with there kids and they were from England. And that’s pretty much it.
  • Exploring Tulum continued

    Exploring Tulum continued
Today I went to the Tulim ruins. They were pretty cool but not as large as I thought they would be. The ruins had a beach right next to them and me and Maddy played for a while. It was really expensive to get a cab back to our hotel so we went to the central of Tulum. We were starving because we didn’t have any breakfast so we ate some really yummy food. Then we watched the sunset as the birds went crazy.
