Calender
The Mayans developed the most advanced calendar out of Mesoamerica. The calendar had 365 days in a year and 12 months. The Mayans said that after December 2012 there would be no more bak'tun. This was a major event for the Maya because it helped them make lots of money because everyone wanted a calendar. -

In the first half of the 600s, an eye-opening collapse of the Teotihuacan marked the first turning point in the history of the Mayan civilization. -

Another major event for the Mayans was after the collapse of Teotihuacan when the Mayans were rebuilding. The Mayan city Tikal became known as the most progressive settlement in Mesoamerica and they were the biggest city in the New World. -

The Maya Decline
The Maya lost the title of being known as the largest city in the New World once the Spanish arrived in the 16th century. Historians say the reason of the Maya decline is unknown but it is possible that the Spanish could have played a roll in the decline.
