This was when the Maya started to adapt to their settlement in Yucatan, Mexico. Their civilization continued to expand which meant that the competition for land increased. -

The Classic Era
The Maya's Classic Era lasted from A.D. 250-900. The Maya civilization grew to around 40 cities that each ranged of 5,000-50,000 people in their population. The Mayas advanced their agriculture with methods like irrigation and terracing, improving from their slash-and-burn method. -

Maya Collapse
By the eighth century, cities that the Mayas had settled in, started to disappear one by one. And then by the end of the ninth century, the entire Maya Civilization had collapsed, without leaving evidence of what had happened. -

During the Maya's Post-Classic era, the Mayas were introduced to European diseases, suppression of native traditions, and suffered from conscription of labor.
