South Mountain Community College Created
This event was a breakthrough for the South Mountain Community and the Maricopa Community College district. It was a great opportunity for lower income students that were limited by transportation opportunities, and aided in the expansion of class offerings in the local area. -
New 13 Building Campus Completed
Another great event for the college and for the community where a center of education was available to serve the needs of the community. -
Classes Offered at New Campus
Opening South Mountains new campus was great improvement to the community. Classes were no longer held in churches and other public buildings. A concentration of learning efforts was focused in one spot. Various collaborations in learning resulted. -
South Mountain Initially Accredited
Higher education opportunities for the communities in southern Maricopa County were now transferrable to other universities. Many local citizens of the South Mountain Village benefitted. -
MCC Bond Approved
Allowed construction of the Technology Center and Performing Arts at South Mountain Community College. This allowed expansion of community college classes in many areas for both students that were continuing on to a four year college, and for adults who were looking to enhance their lives with the arts. -
South Mountain Library Opens
Bond measure allowed construction of the South Mountain Library. This is the jewel of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. It is a shared resource between the community and the Community College, and aids in bringing the community together at the college. -
Engineering Lab Opens
South Mountain Community College completes the renovation of the copy center to create a new Engineering Lab. The lab allows 3-D printing, lazer etching, design and bread boarding of electronic circuits, and numerically controlled wood working. As a result engineering classes are expanded.
