  • Navigation Acts

    Navigation Acts
    The Navigation Acts were created so only England would benefit from colony trades.
    Colonists ingnored these laws and began to smuggle and trade illegally.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    Set Appalachian Mountains as a western boundry to prevent fighting between the colonists and Native Americans.
    This angered colonists and speculators who bought land west of the mountains, and British ignored there claims to the land.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Created to lower taxes in hopes that the colonists would actually pay them since they could now afford them.
    This angered colonists because it violated their rights to be secure in there homes and it got rid of the British law "Innocent until proven guilty", because people were already considered guilty.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Placed a tax on newspapers and wills. All printed material had to have a stamp on it.
    This caused people to boycott because they were being taxed with out their consent and they were also being taxed directly
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    Stated that Parliament could tax and make decisions for the British colonies in all cases whatsoever.
    This angered colonists because they wanted to be taxed inside of their own colonies.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    Applyed taxes to glass, tea, paper, and imported goods.
    This angered colonists because they believe that only their representatives, thtat they voted for, could tax them. This would lead to more boycotts.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    Allowed East India Company sole control of the trade for tea in America, and allowed the comany to sell tea directly to shopkeepers instead of merchants.
    To protests this act a group of men disguised as Mohawks threw 342 chests of tea in the ocean.
  • Coercive Acts

    Coercive Acts
    Harsh laws that were intened to punish the colonists of Massachusetts for resisiting the British Laws.
    Colonists had to pay for the runied tea and Britain prevented for food and supplies to reach them. These also took away certain rights from other laws.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    Set up a government for Quebec. Quebec colonists got everythign west of the Appalachian Mountains, the land that the other 13 colonies wanted. The British ignored their claims to this land and soon the colonists came to known all of these acts as the Intolerable Acts.
