The long journey to Cathay
After receiving valuble gifts and letters from the new pope Tedaldo (gregory x). They set out of Venice to the East, with them 15 year old Marco Polo. -

The places passed till Kerman
By the time the Polo's reached the major city of Suchow, they passed thru some Very dangerous places. The first place being The kingdom of Georgia. Then the city of Tabriz and made there way south to the persian golf.Instead of taking a boat they walked east to Kerman. -

The long journey to Lop-Nor
When they reached Badakhshan, marco contracded an illness and stayed there for a year. On the move again they came across "the highest place in the world,the Pamirs". this being the first time in history the Pamirs appearing.Then arriving at the Taklamaken desert,. Taking the south route there, they passed thru Yarkand, Khotan, Cherchen, and Lop-Nor. -

The Gobi desert
Marco, his father and uncle passed thru the great Gobi desert and wrote one of his journal entries of what it was like in the Gobi desert. -

Almost to China
After there dangerous voyage thru the Gobi desert they came across the major city of Suchow where they stayed a year and Marco wrote journal entrys about Mongol life. -

Arrived in China
The Polo's arrive in Kublai Khan the original capitol. After 3 and a hafe years they traveled 5600 miles from Venice and meet the Great Khan, Witch then Khan appointed Marco to high posts in his administration. -
May 8, 1292
Coming home
The Polo's stayed in Khans cort for 17 years and was anxious to leave as they feared that Kublai died. Khan agreed to let them go if they escorted a mongol princess to marry a persian prince. -

ariving home
Marco did not provide full accounts of the journey homebut 600 passengers and crew died. -
May 8, 1298
The book
3 years after Marco returned to Venice, he commanded a gallery in a war against the city of Genoa and was captured for a year. After he was released hhe made a book about his travels called The Travels Of Marco Polo. He got married and had 3 daughters and remaned in Venice untill his death in 1324
