The First March
The president did not show any attention to the issue of blacks not being treated fairly so they protested in 1941. -
Marches
Throughout the 1950's and 1960's marches were demanded for equal rights. -
Civil Rights Movement
The blacks didn't enjoy the passage of the "Civil Rights Movement" so they decided to start another "March on Washington". -
The Planning
The planning of "The March on Washington" all started on December 13th 1962. A little less then a year after that they march started. -
The Protest
Many blacks took signs and marched from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial. There was not only blacks there...a lot of whites showed up to march as well. -
I Have Dream Speech
On August 28, 1963 a very famous speech was made called "I Have a Dream". The speech was made to encourage blacks to fight for there rights and to never give up on what you believe in. This speech was made by Martin Luther King Jr! -
Civil Rights Act
Soon after the March on Washington happened the Civil Rights Act happened. All racial discrimnation was banned from stores, restaurants and other public places.
