  • The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) is founded to coordinate student-led activism in the Civil Rights Movement.

  • The March on Washington organized by a coalition of civil rights, labor, and religious organizations, including the SCLC, SNCC, and the ICBO takes place where Martin Luther King Jr. delivers his "I Have a Dream" speech during the event
