    Mar was born in Guadalajara, Mexico.

  • 1927

    Mar and her family, 2 older brothers and her parents, moved to the east side of New York, New York when Mar is 5 for a fresh start.

  • 1928

    Mar's mother dies from malaria when Mar is 6.

  • 1928

    Mar starts school.

  • 1932

    Two boys insult and tease Mar during lunch. Mar punches both of them and is expelled from school.

  • 1933

    Mar's grandmother teaches Mar how to knit. Knitting becomes her favorite hobby.

  • 1934

    Mar meets Charlie and the two become best friends.

  • 1936

    Mar starts to worry as the war starts to brew.

  • 1937

    World War 2 starts.

  • 1941

    Mar's father and Deigo, Mar's other brother, get drafted into the army.

  • 1941

    Sammy, Mar's older brother, is drafted into the Navy.

  • 1942

    Mar finds out her father and brother both died.

  • 1944

    Charlie gets drafted into the Air Force.

  • 1944

    Mar starts to knit obsessivly.

  • 1944

    In Charlie's absence, Mar becomes friends with a 6-year-old girl named Mary Ann.

  • 1944

    A blanket that Mar knitted and donated, finds it's way to Charlie.

  • 1945

    Charlie comes back home, finds out that Mar was the one to donate the blanket.

  • 1945

    Japan surrenders, ending World War 2.

  • 1985

    Charlie dies at the age of 63.

  • 1986

    Mar dies at the age 64. Charlie had died one year prior.
