The U.S. bought the land from the Appalachians mountains to the rocky mountains for fifty millions dollars from France. Lewis and Clark then led an exploration of the new land. this was the beginning of people going westward. -
Oregon Trail
the Oregon Trail was a trail started by fur traders who moved far west to where current day oregon, washington, idaho, and parts of Montana are. the land was better for farming and there was plenty of animals for fur. Missionaries were people who went to oregon country and converted NAs to christianity. many people came over until around 1840.
