Newton Heath are founded
In 1878 the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company granted permission for the employees of its Carriage and Wagon department to start a football team. This would be called Newton Heath. -

On 11 March 1941 Old Trafford football stadium, the home of Manchester United, was hit by a bomb aimed at the industrial complex of Trafford Park, wrecking the pitch and demolishing the stands. -

Munich air Disaster

Manchester United complete their first and only ever treble 1999 after two late goals by Teddy Sheringham (90+1) and Ole Gunnar Skoljaer (90+3). This gave Manchester United the win over Bayern Munich and was one of the greatest comebacks in the history of football. -
The signing of the best ever
Cristiano Ronaldo was at the time just a youngster when he played against Manchester United for Sporting Lisbon. He played so well that he made John Oshea look like a clown and in the dressing room many players asked that Sir Alex Ferguson to sign Ronaldo. He was later signed for a fee of 12.4 million pounds. He then played 196 games for Manchester United and scored 84 goals. Before leaving to Real Madrid for a fee of 80 million pounds. -
