US receives full indepence from Great Britain
In 1776, after the American Revolutionary War began, the leaders of the war wrote a letter to the King of England. They explained why they wanted to be an independent country. on the 4th of July in 1776, the US gained full independence. -

Britain ships convicts to Australia
Between 1788 and 1850 over 162,000 convicts from Great Britain were shipped to Australia in 806 ships. The first 11 ships are known as the First Fleet. They shipped the convicts and marines to Australia and are thought of as the founders of Australia. -
Cotton Gin
Cotton farmers used to use Africans as slave to pick the cottons seeds from the farms out by hand until a young man invented a cotton gin that worked. -
Factory Acts
In 1833 a Factory Act was passed through the Government to help children working in factories. Children under the age of 9 were not allowed to work. Children weren't allowed to work at night. Children that were 9-13 years of age weren't allowed to work more than nine hours a day. -
Slavery Abolished in British Empire
After the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act in 1807, People caught with slaves were fined £100 for each slave. In 1833, the Slavery Abolition Act was passed through the government. This act gave all slaves in the British Empire freedom. -
Factory Acts
In 1844 another Factory Act was passed through the Government to help children working in factories. The youngest age that was allowed to work in factories reduced to 8 years old. 8 to 13 years old could only work to a maximum of six and a half hours a day. 13 to 18 year olds could work to a maximum of 12 hours a day and the same for women. Safety guards assisted all machines that were in use. -
Abolition of Slavery in France
Trading slaves began in 1517. It was first abolished in 1794 then definitively in 1848 in all colonies. -
Canada Receives Independence
In 1867, Canada received independence from Great Britain. They became independent by the four different colonies asking the British parliament for the right to join together as an independent nation called Canada, and Britain agreed. -
Abolishment of Slavery In US
Slavery in the US was abolished in 1868 to extend the rights of African Americans. A change in the document was first made in 1865, then again in 1868. Another amendment was made, which allowed any colour or race to vote. -
Suez Canal
The Suez Canal is a canal that is 103 miles long. It is found in North-eastern Egypt and links the Red Sea and the Gulf of Suez with the Mediterranean Sea. After 1875, it came under British control. -
Federation of Australia
On the 1st of January, 1901, the colonies of New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, and Tasmania were joined together and are now known as the "Commonwealth of Australia". -
Europe controls over 84% of the Globe
In 1913, Europe took over and controlled over 84% of the globe by gaining more resources to spread their beleifs. This included the Americas, most of Africa, Oceania, and parts of Asia. -
The Panama Canal
The Panama Canal was created in 1914. It is a ship in Panama that is 48 miles long. It is a water way that cuts through the country. €80,000,000 was spent on building it. -
World War I
WWI (World War I) was the first world war. It was first called the Great war and it went on from 1914 to 1918. They mostly fought in Europe and it was the introduction to machine guns and poison gases.
