The "freedom riders", a group of civil rights activists, were attacked by the KKK. The members of the Klan left without beating and burning these people to death, as they were threatened by their own destruction. -

A large amount of east Berliners attempted to escape to the democractic West Germany. Soviet Union decided to create a wall as well as post guards to prevent future migration. -
Kennedy Addresses the Nation About Civil Rights
JFK called on the American people to actively participate in civil rights to achieve equality among Americans. Legistation was passed in order to desegregate schools to help African Aerican people succeed in their quest for civil rights. -
JFK Assassinated in Dallas, Texas
Kennedy was losing his popularity due , in part, to his support of the civil rights movement. JFk was shot whilst on a parade route in an open-air car. His assassin was Lee Harvey Oswald, a communist supporter who did not agree with JFK's actions.
