The Typewriter
The first typewriter to be commercially successful was invented in 1868 by several Americans with Christopher Latham Sholes taking most credit. The invention was made to be able to write text a lot quicker and according to Pellegrino Turri and his design in 1808, many early typewriters were developed to enable the blind to write. It had no shiftkey, capital letters only. As you would press a letter different steel types would go through the paper and a lever attached to it would push it upwards. -
The Telephone
In 1876 Alexander Graham Bell invented the first telephone in history. The first phone call occured on the 10th of March to his assistant Thomas Watson. Components contained were a power source, a switch hook, a dialer, a ringer, a transmitter, a receiver, and an anti-sidetone circuit. This is quite a change from what gets used nowadays, we now have cameras on our phones and displays which are used frequently everday. The first telephone was 23cm long 13cm deep compared to now around 15cm x 7cm. -
The Car
Karl Benz created the first car in 1886. What Benz invented was going to be revolutionary since the car was built like a motorcar whose internal combustion engine was powered by gasoline. Benz used his love for bicycling and invented this vehicle and his first design was drawn on the tricycle. Called the Motorwagen it could carry two passengers at the same time. The automobile reached a top speed of 16 km/h. Fun fact: The "Benz" in Mercedes Benz is inspired from the famous Karl Benz's creation. -
The ENIAC Machine
The ENIAC also known as " The Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer" was invented by J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly at the University of Pennsylvania. The manufacturing started in 1943 and was not completed until 1946. It utilized about 1,800 square feet and used about 18,000 vacuum tubes, weighing almost 50 tons. The computer was invented in order to automate mathematical calculations that were previously completed by humans and it could churn 5000 addition problems in one second. -
Steve Jobs
Steven Paul Jobs, born 1955 in San Francisco to Abdulfattah Jandali and Joanne Schieble soon he would be adopted to Paul and Clara Jobs. At a young age Jobs became interested in mechanics, father Paul created a crafting bench in the garage where he would spend plenty of hours. In 1976 Jobs and his two friends created Apple, to raise money Steve said that he had to sell his van to fund the project. Apple is now the most known electronics company in the world and is constantly creating new devices -
Bill Gates
Bill Gates was born 1955 in Washington.Growing up Gates was studying pre-law major but later took mathematics and graduate level computer science courses in Harvard University. Jeff Bezos
Jeffrey Preston Bezos is an American internet entrepreneur who is most known for his creation of Amazon. Early in life Bezos studied electrical engineering and computer science at Princeton University. The 5th of July marked the offical launch of Amazon something who was going to be revolutionary for the future of shopping. According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index Jeff Bezos is ranked as the most richest man in the world. This year Bezos announced that he would step down as the CEO of Amazon. -
Elon Musk
In 1971 Elon Musk was born in Pretoria, South Africa. Recently Musk got his first child "X Æ A-Xii". The name given has quickly caught media's attention for its unique and weirdness. Elon is most known for the creation of Tesla Motors who create environmentally friendly cars and SpaceX who is a strong market competitor in rocket science. The climate is something discussed everyday, thus I believe Tesla has gotten so successful because of its strive to make the environment more sustainable.
