    Jamestown was the first successful settlement on the mainland of the North America.
  • Mayflower Compact Written

    Mayflower Compact Written
    The Mayflower Compact was written and signed aboard the ship Mayflower. It was the first document used to govern the new plyouth colonies. The purpose of establishing the Mayflower Compact and fleeing to a new Plymouth Colony was to avoid religious prosecution in Great Britain.

    This plan was proposed to unify the colonies under one rule for military and defense purposes.

    Was emposed as a source of revenue for the British. It required all publications and official documents to bear a tax. It was repealed in 1766.
