Sugar Act
The Sugar was created on April 5, 1764. The sugar act marked the start of New British Policies to raise money.The colonists reacted with overwhelming anger. The British did not react in any certain way. -
Currency Act
The Currency act was created on September 1 1764. The Currency act was made to stop people from printing their own money. It does not really say how the Colonists and British react. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp act was created on March 22, 1765. The Stamp act required all American colonists to pay tax on printed paper. The colonists were shocked that the British Parliament had required everyone to pay a tax on all printed paper. -
Quartering Act
The Quartering act was created on May 3, 1765. The Quartering act required the colonies to house British soldiers. The colonists disputed the legality of the act because it violated the Bill of Rights. The British were fine with housing with the colonies. -
Townshend Acts
The Townshend acts were created on June 15, 1767. The Townshend acts forced duties on glass, lead, paints,,paper, and tea imported.The colonists were very angry about what the British had imposed on them. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was created on March 5, 1770. The Boston Massacre was a street fight that was started by throwing snowballs and other objects. The colonists used this to their advantage against the British.It does not say how the british reacted. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act was created on May 10, 1773. The Tea Act was the final straw of unpopular taxes and policies by Britain.The colonists had never really accepted the Tea act so their was no real reaction. The British had no reaction because they imposed the act. -
Boston tea party
The Boston tea party was created on December 16, 1773. The Boston tea party was a protest that increased British oppression. The colonists reacted to the Boston tea party with a protest. The British shut down the Boston harbor until all of the tea was paid for. -
Boston Port Act
The Boston Port Act was passed on March 31, 1774. The Boston Port Act meant to force Boston into paying for the tea that was dumped in to the harbor. The colonists reacted and all came together and did not pay for the tea.The British were shocked that all of the other colonies helped Boston refuse to pay for all of the tea. -
Quebec Act
The Quebec Act was created on June 22, 1774. The Quebec Act gave all the French Canadians religious freedoms. The Colonists were happy because it encouraged them towards independence. There is not a certain way the British reacts. -
1st Continental Congress
The 1st Continental Congress was created on September 5, 1774. The 1st Continental Congress was a meeting containing 12 of the 13 delegates at the Carpenters Hall in Philadelphia. The Colonists were in the meeting and the British didnt react in any certain way -
Edenton tea party
The Edenton tea party was created on October 25, 1774. The Edenton tea party was a political protest in which women in Edenton stopped buying English imports.The British didn't take it seriously because it was led by women. The colonists did not react in any certain way. -
The Ride of Paul Revere
The Ride of Paul Revere was on April 18, 1775. The Ride of Paul Revere was to warn people about the British troops that were marching to Concord. Since he warned the colonists they were aware and ready to fight. The British were marching and looking to attack the British. -
Shot Heard Around the World
The Shot Heard Around the World was on April 19, 1775. Was the first shot of the battle of Lexington.There was no reaction from the colonists. The British reacted with firing back shots. -
Common Sense
Common Sense a book by Thomas Paine was published on January 1, 1776. The book Common Sense was the first work to ask for independence from Great Britain. This book influenced colonists to finally break away from British rule.The pamphlet was not taken serious by the British. -
Declaratory Act
The Declaratory act was created on March 18, 1776. The Declaratory act gave the British full power to make laws. The Colonists were not very happy and thought that there would be more acts coming. The British were very happy about the act. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was written over period of time between June 11, 1776 and July 4, 1776. It was signed on July 4, 1776. The Colonists were so excited when the Declaration of Independence was signed because in meant independence and freedom. As a reaction the British ordered troops to the colonies. -
2nd Continental Congress
The 2nd Continental Congress was created on September 5, 1774. The 2nd Continental Congress was a meeting of 13 delegates from the Thirteen Colonies in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This was very good for the Colonists. The British were not very happy about this. -
Articles of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation was created on November 15, 1777. The Articles of Confederation was the first constitution in the United States. The colonists were very excited about this Constitution. The British were not to excited about this and were certainly not happy with it.
