The Nullification Crisis occured during president Andrew Jackson's presidency. The south found the tarif unconstitutional and wanted to void & null it. -
The Dred Scott Decision
The Dred Scott decision was a debate in court between Dred Scott vs. Sandford. With the help of a lawyer, this african slave was denied basic rights of a U.S. Citizen and denied the oppurtunity to sue. After this, congress passed the Dred Scott Decision stating african americans are denied basic U.S. rights and the constitution does not apply to them. -
Frederick Douglass and the North Star
Frederick Douglass and the North Star was the movement of Frederick Douglass, who was born into slvery but escaped. The escaped to northern states, spoke at anti-slavery conventions and became an influential article writer. -
The Compromise of 1850
The Compromise of 1850 was a 4 year confrontation of the North & the South, reagrding the big issue of slavery. California was addmitted into the union as a free state, and the option of the south owning half and naming it a slave state was denied. -
Bleeding Kansas
Bleeding Kansas was a series of fights and confrontations between the North and the South. The were fighting in Kansas over slvery issues, and the big question on everyone's mind was if kansas would enter as a free or slave state. -
The Kansas/Nebraska Act and Popular Sovereignty
The Kansas/Nebraska Act and popular sovereignty changed the history of the U.S. It was initally created to create new settlement and land oppurtunities. With the Union and the South debating of slavery, the new states were given a choice to become proslavery or antislvaery. -
The Election of Abraham Lincoln
The Election of Abraham Lincoln was on Novemeber 6,1860. He was running against three other participants, but held the main intrest in America and sought to end the Civil War and Southern succession. -
South Carolina Secession
South Carolina secession was the first state to seceed from the Union after the presidental election of Abraham Lincoln. They did not agree with the ways of the union and claimed that the Union was disrupting their way of life. They also disagreed to the tariff, which was a main cause of thr succession. -
Formation of the Confederate States of America
The formation of the Confederate States of America consisted of; South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. They decided to succeed from the nation after president Abraham Lincoln's election. They did not agree with the Union and their ways of changing their mundane lives.
