The all American football players meet at the White House to be recognized by JFK. This was a time where these excelling students were the role models for young kids. This meeting had an impact on people of all ages, striving to do better. -
JFK is assasinated
President Kennedy is shoot and killed as he rode his motorcade through downtown Dallas. JFK was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald. Kennedy was shoot three times, the third shoot killed him instantly. This event was a shock to all Americans and scared many. -

The Black Panthers were formed in California and fought to establish revolutionary socialism. The Panthers took part in militant self-defense during the Civil Rights Movement. -

Many participated in the rally such as hippies, black nationalists, professors, and war veterans. After the rally, participants marched toward the Pentagon. Afterwards, violence erupted and many were killed. -
Robert Kennedy is killed
Robert Kennedy was shot at the Ambassador Hotel in L.A. after winning the Presidential primary in California. He was shoot several times by Palestinian Sirhan Sirhan, but he did not die immediately. This was a traumatic time for Americans as their President had been killed previously. -
Nixon is elected
The election of 1968, Nixon won Presidency. Nixon had previously lost to John F. Kennedy in the 1960 election. Nixon was between the conservative and liberal side, helping him win the nomination for the Republican party. -
First man on the moon
Neil Armstrong and Aldrin land on the moon. Apollo 11 carried the men to the moon. Neil Armstrong is known for his famous words when he first took foot on the moon, "One small steep for man, one giant leap for mankind." -
Charles Manson is arrested
Charles Manson was convicted of first-degree murder and was sentenced to death. Americans were frightened by Manson and wanted him behind bars at all costs. Charles lead three men to kill multiple people. -

The first American's visit China because of the World Table Tennis Championship. Nixon had previously visited China to meet with the communist People's Republic of China to talk about their relations. Nixon's visit established a new relationship between communist China and America. -
George Wallace was shoot
Governor George Wallace was shot several times by Arthur Bremer in Laurel, Maryland. However, Wallace did not die. Three other citizens were wounded during this shooting and Wallace was paralyzed from the waist down. Wallace was shoot because of his controversial views of desegregation. -

Nixon resigned when a scandal escalated, resulting in Nixon loosing most of his political support. The arrest of the Watergate burglars was the start of many incidents leading up to Nixon's resignation. -
Hurricane Carmen
Hurricane Carmen was a very destructive and deadly storm. It is registered as a category 4 hurricane. Carmen struck the coast of Mexico and destroyed much of the land. As Carmen moved Westward, it became absorbed in the deep cyclone of the Southern Plains. -
Gerald Ford assassination attempt
Lynette Fromme attempted to assassinate Gerald Ford. She approached the President as he was walking toward the California Capitol, and she raised a .45 handgun to him. Fromme was then tackled by the Secret Service. Later, another women named, Sarah Jane Moore, attempted to assassinate the President. -
Shooting of John Lennon
Mark David Chapman shot Lennon outside of his apartment building in New York City. Chapman had been stalking Lennon prior to the shooting and waited for him to arrive at his hotel. He shot Lennon four times, killing him. The world was in complete shock after this gruesome event. -
Attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan
Ronald Reagan was shot in the chest by lone gunman. Reagan was only 69 days into his Presidency prior to the shooting. John Hinckley Jr. shot Reagan in front of a hotel in Washington D.C. -
The first space shuttle launch
Space shuttle Columbia went into orbit from the NASA space center in Florida. John Young commanded the mission. It was designed to launch like a rocket and land like a plane. This was a big advancement in human technology.
