Abraham and Sarah Arrive in Canaan
Abraham and Sarah traveled to Canaan with Abraham’s nephew, Lot, and his family. Lot saw Haran on the way to Canaan and decided that the land there was good enough so Lot stayed. -

Sarah gives birth to Issac
Abraham was 100 years old and Sarah 99 when she gave birth to Isaac. When the angel told them that Sarah would bear a son, she laughed. When he was born, he was named Isaac, which means “he laughs” -

Rebekah gives birth to Jacob and Esau
Isaac was sixty years old when his sons, Jacob and Esau were born. Esau was first born, so he was in line to receive Isaac’s blessing. However, Rebekah tricked Isaac and got Jacob to receive the blessing instead. -

God spoke to Israel and said for his people to go down to Egypt and make it a great nation. So Jacob and all his descendents took their possessions and went down to Egypt from Canaan -

Moses had talked to the Pharaoh and with God’s help, convinced him to let the Israelites go. Moses did this after a series of plagues that God sent to Egypt. -

Joshua invaded Canaan with the Israelites because Moses had died and appointed Joshua in his place. -

King Solomon decided to build the temple because he was the wisest and richest man in the Bible and he wanted to dedicate a part of himself to God fully. -

After Solomon died, his son Rehoboam ruled. He spoke severely to his people, therefore, the kingdom split into two: Israel and Judah. -

After the king of Judah was killed in battle, the Babylonians captured Judah and harshly ruled the Jewish. Though Jerusalem was destroyed, much of Judah still was inhabited after the fall of Babylon. -

Persians allow Jews to Return to Judah
After Babylon fell to Cyrus, king of Persia, he allowed Jews to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple. He even allowed stolen precious items to be returned to the temple. -

Greeks Conquer Holy Land
Alexander the Great captured much of the Middle East, including Jerusalem. The temple was destroyed and never rebuilt, all that remains is the Western Wall. -

The Maccabees revolted and started to burn oil that they only had enough for one day of burning. The oil, by the grace of God, ended up burning for 8 whole days. -
