Voyage of the Presevenance Ship's Log
-Brig named Presevenance departs Sydney on a voyage to Campbell Island
-Winds blow ship off course
-The wind and sea causing problems
-The crew attempt to steer ship around the storm
-The crew find a land off course that is unknown on charts
- A shore party is sent, which finds an abundance of seals as well as a ship wreak on the beach with an ancient design.
-The island is given the name Macquarie Island -

-A section of the island had had many earthquakes which first started in October the year before which rocked and felled some mountains. -
William's letter to his Father
-Many gangs have been formed on the island and several have no provisions
-They have started eating more birds than usual, eating the flippers of sea elephants and the eggs of penguins and other birds. They also are drinking a soup with wild cabbage which appears to be a cure for scurvy.
- Burning the blubber of sea elephants for heat
-Started producing oil from sea elephants as there were no more fur seals left.
-Heavy snows
