MAC: System 1.0
Was the first Apple Macintosh operating system version and the beginning of the classic Mac OS series. It ran on the Motorola 68000 microprocessor. -
MAC: System 3.0
was introduced with the Mac Plus, officially implementing HFS and 800K startup drives and adding support for several new technologies including SCSI and AppleShare and introducing Trash “bulging” (i.e., when the Trash contained files, it would gain a bulged appearance). -
MAC: System 4
Was a minor update from System 3, but did have some changes and new features.
Introduced AppleShare, a file server, as part of the OS.
Updated the LaserWriter Driver to 3. -
MAC: System 6
It was the first Macintosh system software to have cooperative multitasking by default. It is widely considered to be best Mac System for older (non-PowerPC) machines, and there are hobbyist groups surfing the web using System 6 and elderly Macs to run it. -
MAC: System 7
It offered a number of system enhancements that were either previously not available, or were optional extensions to the operating system. Built-in co-operative multitasking.
The Trash was now a real folder instead of the special status it previously had.

MAC OS 8
It represents the largest overhaul of the classic Mac OS since the release of System 7, approximately six years before. It emphasizes color more than prior versions. Released over a series of updates, Mac OS 8 represents an incremental integration of many of the technologies which had been developed from 1988 to 1996 for Apple's overly-ambitious OS named Copland. -
MAC OS X
Mac OS X inherits the memory and processor of Mach's and the driver of the device of the interface, BSD's POSIX - UNIX Protocol of the program that supports and works in interface of networks, also some elements of the interface of NeXT's. This operating system is virtually on all Mac's, and was worked for a decade to get the success it has now. -
Mac OS X 10.3 “Panther”
In addition to having a much higher performance, it incorporated the largest update in the user interface. Some of the improvements of this version is that the Finder was updated and incorporates a metallic interface and quick search. Allowed a new way of manipulating windows, also incorporated the Rapid Change of Users, which allows to have sessions with different users open at the same time and move from one to another quickly. -
Mac OS X 10.5 “Leopard”
This version is compatible with PowerPC and with the new Intel technology. Among the features of the new version we find: Time Machine

Mac OS X 10.6 “Snow Leopard”
The latest version of the Mac operating system, nicknamed Snow Leopard, was released on August 28, 2009 and is faster than its predecessors, in addition to having several interesting new features: New exposé integrated in the Dock.
It is possible to use the touchpad to insert Chinese characters.
The time zone adjusts automatically.
Offers support to connect to Microsoft Exchange 2007 servers.
Lower consumption of hard disk space and support (theoretical) for a maximum of 16TB of RAM. -
Version 10.13: High Sierra
Presented on June 5, 2017 during the WWDC, this new version will focus on improving the performance of the system.
This version is now available for download and installation from the Mac AppStore from September 25, 2017.
