Louis Riel.
Louis Riel was born on October 22nd, 1844, in Red River Settlement, Winnipeg. -
Louis Was Sent To Be Educated.
In 1858, when Louis was 14, he was sent to lower Canada with 3 others by ¨Archbishop Tache¨ to be educated for the priesthood. -
Metis committee is formed.
"The Metis National Committee" was formed on october 16, 1869. Louis Riel was the Secritary, whilst John Bruce was president. -
Riel Becoms President.
On the second of november, 1869, the Metis chase surveyor William McDougall out of red river settlement, and take fort garry later that day. Later That Year, on the 18th of december, the metis declared a provisional government, and Riel became president on the 27 of december, that same year. -
Thommas Scotts execution.
On the 4th of march, 1870, a man named Thommas Scott was executed for plotting againsed the provisional government. He was killed as an example for any one else who might have plotted againsed the provisional government aswell. -
Rebellion Ends.
The Red River Rebellion ended when riel fled to the dakota territories after hearing that the canadian militiamen were planning to execute him. -
Riel returns.
in may of 1871, riel returned to manitoba after he fled to the Dakota territories 1 year prior. -
Riel runs for parliment.
in 1872 riel but steps aside so a man named cartier could have a seat. Then in 1873, riel won the ensuing by-election, but cant take a seat due to a warrent being issued for his arrest. Riel went on to wil the following re-elections, but kept getting "rejected". -
Defeat of the rebels.
Near the end of the north-west rebellion, in early june, many notable figures had become exausted, and surrendered. finalising the defeat of the rebels. -
Riel Was Executed.
On the 16th of november, 1885, riel was hung for treason.
