Attempts First Novel
At the age of twelve, William attempted to write his first Novel. He was unsuccessful and out of frustration he began to bully his peers. His grown up self described his child self as "a brat." -
Goes to College
William went to Brasenose College to study English Literature. Although his father hoped he would study science instead, but it was not to be. -

William Golding tries to get his first book, "Poems" published, but he was unsuccessful. Publicize didn't really like his book. -
Teaching English
Starts teaching English and Philosophy at Wordsworth's school in Salisbury. -
Serves in the Royal Navy
Golding joins the Royal Navy to fight in World War II. And for five years he fought with the Navy defending against submarines, ships, etc. -
Publishes "The Lord of the Flies"
After 21 rejections, Golding managed to have "The Lord of the Flies" published. We all know how that book went. Critics loved the book. -
