    The agricultural revolution allowed humans to produce more food and have more children. People now lived in permany dwellings rather than nomadic life. The accumulation of property was another effect of the rise of agriculture. Children's lives changed gradually from the free pursuit of their own interests to increasingly more time spent at work that was required to serve the rest of the family.

    After the advent of agriculture, the education of children was a matter of squashing their willfulness in order to make them good laborers. A good child was an obedient child, who suppressed his or her urge to play and explore and dutifully carried out the orders of adult masters. Punishments of all sorts were understood as intrinsic to the educational process. School after the Industrial Revolution focused on repetition and memorization.

    This research was used as the foundation for technology integration over the next decade. Over the next 10 years, they worked with school districts throughout the US and also the National Science Foundation (NSF) to study how the everyday use of technology might impact teaching and learning. They also established Apple Development Centers where they could test different technologies and curricula .
