    Just Starting - Developmental
On my second birthday I recieved the book "baby angles." At two years old i could recite it with my mom as she read it to me before bed, eventually it helped me with word recognition. Developmentaly reading at a yound age is impressive, and it is important to start literacy at such a young age.
  • Learning on My Own - Developmental

Learning on My Own - Developmental
In Kindergarten, I learned how to read on my own, at a private school named Open Bible. Then when I moved to a public school in first grade I was too far ahead, was constantly bored, getting in trouble, and haven't liked reading ever since. This related to the Text part of the 6 T's because I was actually reading words on my own and not from memorization. Not progressing in first grade made me uninterested in reading. In the 6 T's we learned how important it is to read things that challenge us.

My Own Book - Cognitive - Linguistic
In third grade we became authors. We got to write and illistrate our own books. I, however, found it very hard to put what was in my head onto paper. This could fall into many of our T's but i think it most fits with Task. We prepaired for it and wrote it, revised it, and finalised it. It was a long project for third graders but i still have my book. I'm hoping to do it with my students.
  • Board not Bored - Developmental

    Board not Bored - Developmental
In 5th grade everytime i said i was board my mom made me go get a board game for us to play.
I am listing this under Talk, while we were playoing the games is when my mother and i would have out "heart to heart" conversations. We really had time to bond, we talked about school, church, and life goals.

    Found A Favorite - Developmental
After never enjoying to read, dreading it, and even finding ways around it all together I found a book that i actually like. I have read this book over and over. I have always known how important reading was, but by not practicing it on a continuous basis my reading comprehension is very low, and may not recover. In the Text, we learned it is important to read things that challenge us, this book may not have challenged me but at least I was reading.
  • Foreign Communication - Sociocultural

    Foreign Communication - Sociocultural
After taking 3 years of Spanish I got the opportunity to go to Spain my junior year of high school. Even after 3 years it was very hard to communicate with the native speakers. We did not have very many “T”ests to track our progress in learning the language. But we had to “T”alk to the people in Spain and make inferences on what they were saying.
  • Student Teaching -

    Student Teaching -
As I got more opportunity for classroom hours I had to learn about smart boards and how to put together a lesson plan on one. I learned how to “T”each by giving the children hands on opportunities and letting them come up to the board and have a turn. I had to keep track of classroom “T”ime and make sure we were being constructive. I also had to find a way to “T”est the students effectively.
  • Finding A Home Away From Home - Developmental

Finding A Home Away From Home - Developmental
While living 3 hours from campus it was hard to get a place to live. Once I found a place I thought I would like, I had to call and see if the information I was getting offline was accurate. I had to use “T”alk to ask specific and precise questions to the housing company. I had to make inferences about what I was reading online and what differences it would make with my lease.
  • self reflection

    Answer the following questions:
    a. What do you consider the strengths/weakness of your work?
I had to learn a lot about literacy to do this project, but I got to analyze my past experiences to do so. My weaknesses were figuring out what were important literacy events because we have literacy every day.
  • self reflection 2

    b. How did you feel about this assignment? What did you ... enjoy / find challenging?
Looking into your past is always challenging, sometimes you have to face some ugly truths even it is literacy history. I enjoyed the project once I was sure how to do it. However the site I used to do my timeline only lets you put so much text in each box, so I didn’t get to expand how I wanted to.
  • self reflection 3

    c. What did you learn from this assignment that you might apply to your future learning and/teaching?
I have had a lot of inspiration on what/how not to teach from my past teachers. I loved the 6 T’s and this project helped me analyze them more.
