Tom is a high school boy who loves to play basketball. He doesnt have the best home life. His mother is usually drinking and his father left him and his brother when they were little. Tom has grown up in a culture of violence. This has made him tough on the court and off. (1234) -

Tom is playing basketball in the park one summer night with his best friend Ronnie. They get into a heated game and one of the other players pulls a gun on them. Tom got away, but Ronnie wasnt so lucky. Ronnie was shot right there on the court. Tom called 911 and the police took him and Ronnie to the hospital. (1329) -

Tom waits at the hospital overnight with Ronnie. After Ronnie wakes up, Tom and him start talking about what hapopened. Two weeks later Tom goes out for his high school basketball team. He makes varsity but is still sad because his best friend cannot plasy along side with him.

Tom is playing very well the first half of the season. One game thought Tom recognizes one of the other players as the one who shot Ronnie. The kid who shot Ronnie remembers Tom as well. During the game the other player keeps talking noise to Tom and finally does it by saying that he'll shoot Tom just like he shot Ronnie. Tom explodes asnd started a fight on the court.

Tom is suspended for causing the fight at the game. He has to skip one month of the basketball season because of it. After his suspension from basketball was lifted, the state tournament was starting up.

Tom's team made it all the way to the championship round after a couple of tight games that they pulled out at the last minute. Tom was playing against the team that caused him to get suspended. Tom ended up making the game winning shot over the kid who shot his best friend Ronnie.
