Stamp Act
The stamp act of 1765 was the first internal tax levied directly on Americans colonist by British Parliament. The act, which imposed a tax on all paper documents in the colonies, came at a time when the British Empire was deep in debt from the from the 7 year war. The stamp act was asymmetrical because we have had something like that happen before. -
Boston tea party
The Boston tea party was a political protest that occurred on December 16, 1773. The colonist were frustrated and angry with Britain for " taxation without representation". The Declaration of Independence was the first formal statement by a nations people arguing their right to choose their own government. The Declaration was signed in August 2, 1776 at the Pennsylvania State House, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. I think that is this symmetrical because it was written by our nations people and it was an important document in our history. -
Battle at Trenton/Princeton
On Christmas day in 1776 General Washington's army crossed the Delaware. The Hessian forces numbered 1,400 served under coronel Johann Rall, the Hessians were unprepared and exhausted. the American's took the victory. Buncker ( Breed's) Hill
the British defeated the colonist at the battle of Bunker hill . Even though the British won they had a very high number of casualties. this was considered the first major battle of the war. -
battle of saratoga
fought 18 days apart in 1777 the two battles of Saratoga were the turning point for the American Revolution on September 19th British general John Burgoyne took a small and costly victory. even tough his troop had been greatly weakened Burgoyne attacked the Americans again at Bemis heights on October 7th but this time was defeated and was forced to retreat. Burgoyne then surrendered ten days later, the American victory convinced the French government to enter the war as their ally -
continental army wintering at valley forge
the continental army under general George Washington enters winter at valley forge 22 miles away from British occupied Philadelphia. War in the south/Charleston
the Battle of Charleston was Americas worst defeat of the Revolution. Major General Benjamin Lincoln surrendered to British Lieutenant General Sir Henry Clinton. This battle is symmetrical because we lost this battle and we have lost other battles.
