The National Guard
Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus sends in the National Guard to prevent any black from entering the white Central High School. -
The attempt
Nine blacks try to enter Central High but are stopped by the National Guard and fail, they are known as the ¨Little Rock Nine¨. -
Withdraw of the troops
A federal Judge in Arkansas grants on an injunction to NAACP lawyers Thurgood Marshall and Wiley Branton to impede on the Governors use of the National Guard, so the troops withdraw. -
New Protection
Arkansas Police Officers and over 1000 protesters surround the school to stop blacks from entering, but the Police secretly guided the Little Rock Nine through the side door of the school. The mob found out and got more angry and aggressive. -
More troops
U.S. Congressman Brook Hays and Little Rock Mayer Woodrow Mann go to ask the federal government for help and to send a via message to the President, Dwight D. Eisenhower as well. Eisenhower then sends 1,100 to 1,200 federal troops fro the 101st Airborne Division as well as 10,000 National Guardsmen are placed on duty. -
The Big Event
Now under protection of federal troops, the Little Rock Nine enter Central High School through the front entrance instead of the side. Very aggressive white mobs insult the nine black teens and physically harm the black reporters outside covering the event. The event was seen around the world. -
Integration
After the Little Rock Nine entered and left Central High, the school was integrated, meaning that blacks and whites could go there freely.
